Wedding Invitations and Stationary Design with Jess Creates
Jess Creates is a graphic designer, branding creator, stationery queen and paper lover based in Virginia.
I’ve been designing invitations for a few years now and I’m so passionate about wedding stationery! Your wedding invitation is the first glimpse guests have into your special event and really sets the tone for your big day.
A Wedding Collective Giveaway has allowed an amazing group of vendors to join together and donate their time and talent for such a wonderful cause. Not only have Laura and Alex been a joy to work with, but they truly deserve this dream wedding.
3 essential tips on wedding invitation and stationary design
Having an idea of how many invitations you plan to send out, even if it’s rough, is really helpful. This will allow us to get accurate printing estimates so you have a good idea of cost from the beginning. I always recommend that my couples order a few extras to account for last minute invites and keepsakes. Also, don’t forget to put a set aside for your photographer to photograph!
DEFINE YOUR BUDGET
Knowing how much you want to spend on your invitations will help us to manage expectations and make the most out of your budget. Paper, ink, and the printing process you chose will all determine the cost of your wedding invitations. Extra elements like envelopes liners, multiple enclosures, custom sizes/shapes, and vintage stamps can add up pretty quickly. Start researching these details ahead of time so you can prioritize what elements you want to include in your invitation suite!
KNOW YOUR VISION
I love starting the invitation process by creating an inspiration board. Are you having a formal black tie affair or exchanging vows at a rustic mountain resort? Those details are great to know to make sure the invitation hints to the formality of your wedding and helps set the tone for your big day.
Tart Event Co. put together an amazing inspiration board early on. From there, I got a ton of inspiration and was able to dive right into designing concepts! Through the design process I kept referring back to our board to make sure the invitations were a true reflection of the vision for their wedding.
